The Shere Hills are a range of undulating hills and rock formations with the highest point at 1,829 meters. Popular with picnickers, the rock formations today serve as training area for para-military organisations. It hosted First All African Scouts Jamboree in 1976.
Jalbang Rock has great history attached to it. In a cave in this rock, Long Geomai, the spiritual leader of the Geomai people was installed. During installation, no one, exzcept the king makers was allowed on any part of the mountain. To this date, women of Geomai descent are not allowed near the cave.
